MARION HAYDEN ENSEMBLE
Born in Detroit, MI, a crucible of jazz, Marion Hayden is one of the nation’s finest proponents of the acoustic bass. Mentored by master trumpeter Marcus Belgrave, Hayden began performing jazz at the age of 15. She has performed with such diverse luminaries as Bobby McFerrin, Nancy Wilson, Geri Allen, Regina Carter, Steve Turre, Lester Bowie, David Allen Grier, James Carter, Dorothy Donegan, Joe Williams, Lionel Hampton, Frank Morgan, Jon Hendricks, Hank Jones, Bobby Hutcherson, Larry Willis, Vanessa Rubin, Sheila Jordan, Mulgrew Miller, Annie Ross and many others. She is a co-founder of the touring jazz ensemble Straight Ahead- the first all woman jazz ensemble signed to Atlantic Records. She is a member of the Detroit International Jazz Festival All-Star Ambassadors touring ensemble.
TRUNINO LOWE QUARTET
The Trunino Lowe Quartet is comprised of four friends who love to play together. The quartet features Trunino Lowe on trumpet, Louis Jones III on drums, Jonathon S. Muir-Cotton on bass and Sequoia Snyder on keyboard. The band will be performing original music and jazz standards.
RAKA
RAKA is a world percussion ensemble featuring CAROLYN KOEBEL on percussion as well as bass, guitar and the East African stringed instrument called the NYATITI. Raka takes East African nyatiti traditions and fuses them with modern day world percussion and electrified guitar sounds to create something new and vibrant!
SEAN DOBBINS TRIO
Drummer Sean Dobbins leads a trio featuring Corey Kendrick on piano and Rob Bickley on bass. The group will play tunes from their upcoming release, The Trio Files – a combination of jazz, blues, spirituals, and gospel music.
