A2 JAZZ FEST
ONE DAY ONLY!
SEPTEMBER 10, 2016
Welcome to the archived page of the 1st Annual A2 JAZZ FEST! This one day jazz festival grew out of the weekly Wednesday jazz series at the Old Town Tavern in Ann Arbor, Michigan. When the founder Dave Sharp pitched the idea of a new outdoor jazz festival in Ann Arbor, every musician he talked with got behind the idea 100%! Originally planned for the West Park Band Shell, the day of the festival surprised us all with heavy rains but that didn’t stop us! We made a quick pivot thanks to the support of the Ann Arbor Distilling Company! We communicated the change the best we could with social media and paper flyers and a perfect venue for our first two years was born! Its amazing what music lovers can put together when we support each other!
THANKS to the Ann Arbor Distilling Company!! This whole event could not have happened without the support of the musicians, music fans, volunteers and audience members. Thank you for supporting jazz in Ann Arbor!

The Ann Arbor Guitar Trio, also known as A2G3, was founded in April 2016 by Alex Anest, Evan Veasey and Adam Kahana. These three musicians have been performing and recording in southeast Michigan and made an exciting contribution to the A2 JAZZ FEST stage last year. Their current repertoire includes original arrangements of works by Bill Frisell, Oliver Nelson, Pat Metheny and Ellen Rowe. Alex Anest shared with us that the festival audience “can expect to hear music written by local composers as well as some more well-known pieces.” Further, he indicated that the group’s repertoire was ever expanding and that the audience could also expect originals written by any member of the group. In other good news, the group is currently working on a recording project.
